Comparison
LetBuddy vs Hammock
Both are UK landlord software, built around different jobs. Hammock is built around the books: bookkeeping, bank feeds and tax returns. LetBuddy is built around the tenancy: certificates, rent, repairs, letting and the evidence a possession claim runs on, under the rules of each UK nation.
What LetBuddy is built around
- A compliance calendar: gas safety, EICR, EPC, HMO and selective licensing, alarms, deposit protection and right to rent per property — each holding the statutory renewal limit, with a reminder schedule tuned to how long that fix takes and an escalating chase once the date has passed.
- England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland handled as the four separate regimes they are.
- An HMO is one property on the bill, however many rooms it has; each room runs as its own tenancy with its own rent, deposit and tenant reporting link.
- Possession evidence — a dated timeline per tenancy that exports as one PDF bundle, which is what a Section 8 claim runs on now that Section 21 has gone.
- Tenant issue reporting by link, triage, and the quote request out to a trade.
- Letting: adverts, applications, referencing, and the tenancy at the end of it.
- Document storage against the property and tenancy it belongs to.
Where Hammock sits
As Hammock’s own pricing page described it on 20 October 2026.
- Landlord bookkeeping and tax: income and expenses, rent and arrears tracking, reports, and Making Tax Digital quarterly updates and final declarations.
- Unlimited open banking feeds on every plan, under their own FCA registration as an account information service provider (register no. 911254).
- One flat price per band of properties: 1–3, 4–10, 11–20 and 21+.
What each costs
Hammock charges one flat price per band of properties. LetBuddy charges per property, with the first one free and every feature on every account. The lower figure on each row is in bold, whichever column it is in.

| 3 | £10/mo | £8/mo |

Hammock’s figures: One flat price per property band, +VAT, on monthly billing. 30-day trial, no free plan. Checked on 20 October 2026 against their pricing page, where the current prices always win over ours. LetBuddy’s column is the same calculation that produces your actual bill.
The rate you sign up on is fixed for the life of the account, and there is no per-user charge — an accountant or a business partner is free at any portfolio size.
Which landlord each one fits
Hammock is built for the landlord whose main job is the books: rent reconciling against live bank feeds, and the tax return prepared from them.
LetBuddy is built for the landlord whose main job is the tenancy: certificates that must not lapse, a property in Scotland or Wales under its own rules, repairs that need a dated record, a property to let next month, and a tenancy that may one day need a possession claim.
Common questions
How do the prices compare?
They are priced on different models. Hammock charges one flat price for each band of properties (1–3, 4–10, 11–20, 21+). LetBuddy charges per property, with the first one free and every feature included, and the rate falls as the portfolio grows until it stops at a cap. The table on this page shows both at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 25 properties, with the date the figures were checked and a link to Hammock's own pricing page.
How does LetBuddy handle bank transactions?
You upload a statement exported from online banking, and LetBuddy suggests a match for each line — rent against the tenancy it pays, expenses against a category and property — for you to approve. It learns the payees you file the same way each time. LetBuddy never holds banking credentials or standing access to an account.
What is LetBuddy built around?
The tenancy and everything around it: a compliance calendar per property, rent and arrears, repairs reported by tenants through a link, letting and referencing, and a dated case record that exports as the evidence bundle a Section 8 possession claim needs — under the rules of whichever UK nation the property is in.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some landlords keep their books in an accounting product and their tenancies, certificates and repairs in LetBuddy. An accountant or bookkeeper can be added to LetBuddy free, with access limited to the properties you choose.
Are these prices current?
They were on the date printed beside the table, taken from Hammock's public pricing page, which is linked. Prices change and theirs is the authority on theirs — check it before you decide. LetBuddy's column is generated by the same code that produces the bill, so it cannot drift from what you would actually pay.
