LetBuddy vs Landlord Studio

Landlord Studio is a rental toolkit with a UK edition: accounting and bank feeds, a tenant portal, listings and applications. LetBuddy is built for the UK landlord’s legal side: compliance, four-nation tenancy rules, repairs and the evidence a possession claim runs on. Which fits depends on where your time goes.

What LetBuddy is built around

  • UK compliance at the centre of the product: gas, EICR, EPC, licences, alarms, deposit protection and right to rent tracked per property, with the expiry date read off the certificate you upload.
  • Possession evidence for a Section 8 claim — grounds, notice periods and a dated bundle per tenancy that exports as one PDF.
  • England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland handled as the four separate regimes they are, read from each property's postcode.
  • No per-user charge at all: an accountant, a partner or an assistant is free on any account, at any portfolio size.
  • An HMO is one property on the bill, however many rooms it has; each room runs as its own tenancy with its own rent, deposit and tenant reporting link.
  • Unlimited documents on every account, including the free one.

Where Landlord Studio sits

As their UK pricing page described it on 20 October 2026.

  • A rental toolkit with a UK edition: accounting with bank feeds (5 accounts on Pro, 20 on Pro Plus), a Xero integration and Making Tax Digital submissions.
  • A tenant portal on every plan, where tenants raise and follow maintenance requests.
  • Listings and applications on every plan, custom screening questions, and automated rent reminders and receipts from Pro.
  • Three units included in each plan, then a charge per extra unit.

What each costs

Landlord Studio includes three units in a monthly plan and charges per unit after that. LetBuddy charges per property, with the first one free and every feature on every account. The lower figure on each row is in bold, whichever column it is in.

10£38/mo£23.40/mo

Landlord Studio’s figures: Pro is £15/month +VAT on monthly billing including 3 units, then £1.20 +VAT per extra unit (£12 and £1.00 on annual billing). A free MTD Go plan covers up to 3 units and charges £5 per MTD submission. Checked on 20 October 2026 against their pricing page, where the current prices always win over ours. LetBuddy’s column is the same calculation that produces your actual bill.

LetBuddy has no per-user charge at any size, so an accountant, a partner or an assistant is free rather than a seat. And the rate you sign up on is fixed for the life of the account.

Which landlord each one fits

Landlord Studio is built for the landlord who wants accounting, bank feeds and a tenant portal in one toolkit.

LetBuddy is built for the landlord whose priority is compliance: certificates that must not lapse, properties in more than one UK nation, repairs that need a dated record, and a tenancy that may be heading towards possession. What changed on 1 May 2026 is why that last one matters more than it did.

Common questions

How do the prices compare?

Landlord Studio's Pro plan includes three units and adds a charge for each unit after that; it also has a free MTD Go plan for up to three units. LetBuddy charges per property with the first one free and every feature included, and the rate falls as the portfolio grows until it stops at a cap. The table on this page shows both at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 25 properties, with the date checked and a link to their pricing page.

How do tenants report a repair in LetBuddy?

Each tenancy has its own link. The tenant opens it on any phone, with no account and no app, to report an issue with photos and to see the property's gas, electrical and energy certificates. The report lands in Maintenance with a dated record, and damp and mould reports start their response clocks straight away.

What is LetBuddy built around?

UK compliance and the tenancy. LetBuddy reads the expiry date off a certificate you upload, holds the statutory renewal limit for it, keeps chasing once the date has passed, and builds a dated evidence bundle per tenancy for a Section 8 possession claim — under the deposit and possession rules of the nation the property is in, because England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are four different regimes.

How does rent work in LetBuddy?

Each tenancy has a rent ledger generated from its start date and due day. You mark what arrived, or upload a bank statement and approve the suggested matches, and arrears show against the possession grounds they meet. Tenants pay you directly, so the money never passes through LetBuddy.

Are these prices current?

They were on the date printed beside the table, taken from Landlord Studio's public UK pricing page on monthly billing, which is linked. Theirs is the authority on theirs — check it before deciding. LetBuddy's column is generated by the same code that produces the bill.
